Drug Addiction Severity Index
Duration: One 90 min. meeting, synthesis report and a 30 min. retroaction meeting.
The session will take place with one of the counselors from the evaluation and orientation service in order to evaluate the degree of addiction severity.
The evaluation will be done with “G.I.T.”, which is a validated clinical instrument that includes the following criteria: drugs, alcohol, medical condition, family or interpersonal relations, psychological state, employment and financial status and legal situation
Motivational session
Duration: 1 to 6, 60 min. sessions, once to twice per week
Motivational sessions rely on a transtheorical model of change, proposed by Drs Prochaska and Di Clemente. This model states that a person with “addictive behavior” will go through various stages, i.e. denial and resistance - to finally the acquisition of autonomy.
Motivational sessions aim to quickly determine witch stage the person is currently at in order to set-up an “intervention strategy plan“.
Motivational sessions are considered as an essential element for successful personal development. Motivation is perceived as a dynamic and evaluative element to which the therapist is closely associated.
The therapist’s role will be to positively influence the person’s motivation with a set of various strategies based on the search of autonomy and the awareness of personal effectiveness.
Cognitive-behavioral therapy
Duration: 8 sessions, once to twice per week
This program consists of 8 individual sessions based on the cognitive behavioral model. Sessions are aimed at the reinforcement of acquired knowledge, in addition to the prevention of relapse. These sessions include the following elements:
