Addiction

Short Term Residential Programs

Duration: 8 weeks of residential stay, followed by outpatient cognitive behavioral program

The program is intended to help men and women over 18 y.o. who:

• Want to have their lives back on tracks,
• Are in search of efficient means to break with their addiction patterns
• Think they are not able to renew family ties by themselves or feel unable to have a satisfying and productive social life anymore
• Are able to live within a community while respecting house rules
• Have no records or background of violence or severe behavior troubles, or psychotic disorders.
• Are medically stable, and detoxified

* The cognitive behaviora program will be utilized to reinforce what's has been learned during residential stay.

The residential stay

• Provides a secure, drug and alcohol free environment
• Provides a healthier lifestyle (sleep, food, etc.)
• Responds to some individuals' isolation
• Permits to renew with positive and productive relationships
• To consider one's life and prepare the future

The elements of the residential stay are

• Personal Developement workshops,
• Individual follow up
• Group life

23 personal development workshops are provided once or twice a week, utilizing a variety of techniques stemming from the cognitive behaviora approach, with an emphasis on relapse prevention sessions. The workshops address in particular the following areas:

Information on the addictions and the recovery process

• Managing emotions and feelings
• Preventing relapse
• Using the basic skills of daily life

Individual follow up: In the first days after admission, the drug counselor will design an individual intervention program with the person concerned and adapted to his/her needs and objectives. Every individual interview will permit to revise the plan which is considered as a progressive, personal instrument.

Group life: while establishing satisfying relationships with his/her peers, the individual is likely to improve the perception of him/helself and to learn to better manage his/her feelings and needs:

• Commitment in the center's responsibilities and daily activities,
• Learning of alternative leisure activities (arts, music)
• Establishment of new, significant relationships
• Help to renew family ties, etc.
