A Word from the Director

a huge chain of generosity

August 2007 - Editorial, by Bruno Ferrari, Executive Director

bruno ferrari The 4th annual Dianova Human Chain wrapped up on Saturday, August 25th, 2007 – and once again the event was tremendously important in helping organizations valiantly symbolize the community engagement and generous gestures that are second nature in our network.

650 donated boxes were passed along, hand by hand, in a gesture of openness and solidarity to other organizations while maintaining a festive ambiance shared with participants from throughout the greater Montreal area.

Good or bad weather, we were there, our compassion gets stronger with rain…

Volunteers had no intention of missing the event, even in the event of rain. After all, these are the times when people in difficulty most need our generosity and support.

With the participation and musical facilitation of DJ DIVSA, AKIR, LAELO Hood and Payshir, in addition to the dynamic and active collaboration of the Honorable Mayor of Montreal, Gerald Tremblay and Paul Piche for launching this event of well over 500 volunteers, the 2007 Dianova Human Chain was enveloped by the spirit of participation as an evident expression of the joy of giving. Special thanks must also be extended to VIPER Records (NYC) and DJPUBLICITY.COM ( Toronto ) for helping to make the musical aspect of this event a reality.

A sizable number of companies contributed to the event with donations estimated at over $30,000 in non-perishable food, clothing and toys destined for Christmas baskets. In the end, the organizations receiving these donations, Le Chaînon, L’Acceuil Bonneau and the Salvation Army will continue the chain by distributing these goods to individuals and families in need.

An experience that does good…

Bravo to all the participants!!! To everyone willing to make a gesture, giving an hour of their time, Dianova ( www.dianova.ca ) is already receiving registrations for the next event. The Dianova Human Chain is organized every last Saturday of August, each year at the Quays of the Old Port of Montreal.

Thank you for your interest.
